Leigh Cohen is licensed in the states of New York and New Jersey and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).  She received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology at Stern College, Yeshiva University and a Masters of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Touro College. She also holds an initial certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

​Leigh has worked in various settings including private practice, public and private school settings, outpatient rehabilitation centers, as well as home-based therapy. She has evaluated and treated both children and adults with a wide range of communication disorders including: receptive/expressive language, articulation, phonological, pragmatic language disorder, voice, fluency, apraxia, dysarthria, myofunctional, cognitive communication disorders, auditory processing, and neurogenic communication disorders.

Leigh has provided diagnostic and therapeutic intervention for pediatric populations in Early Intervention services as well as school aged population. She has worked with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Apraxia of speech, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder. Additionally, Leigh holds PROMPT certification to better treat clients with apraxia, motor speech disorders, articulation difficulties and those who are non verbal. She also has experience with Wilson Reading System and Lively Letters to improve phonemic awareness, decoding, and oral reading. Leigh is also trained as myofunctional therapist and works with both children and adults who have myofunctional tongue thrust disorders. 

​Leigh strives to create an individualized and functional therapeutic environment for her clients in order for them to reach their goals and succeed to their fullest potentials. She is a strong believer in collaborating with parents, teachers, and other therapists to strengthen and carryover all skills learned in therapy. 

Leigh is currently in the process of expanding her private practice servicing children and adults in New Jersey, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. She currently accepts Aetna, Meritain Health, Cigna, and United Healthcare Oxford - PPO out of network.
